Our Mission
We are dedicated to fostering the love of reading in young readers living in underserved communities throughout Los Angeles by giving brand-new books they can call their own. Each child deserves to experience the feeling of cherishing a new book and the magic that comes with it. By partnerning with different elementary schools, we are able to connect with students during school time and engage with them along with their classmates and teachers to build a collective excitement around reading.
How We Started
The Start
When I started posting book-reviews to my YouTube channel at 12 years old, I was shy with glasses and a face full of metal. Fast forward a year into my journey as a book-review creator, I was able to reach out to the author of one of the books I reviewed and she graciously agreed to an interview with a 13 year old boy (still with glasses and a face full of metal) in her hometown of London. Fast forward another year, and the family of the late Leon Leyson, the youngest member of Schindler’s List and author of The Boy on the Wooden Box (my very first book review) found my video and reached out to share how happy they were to see this powerful story loved and shared.
Yet another year later, I transitioned to making comedy skits with the central theme of books, and since then have posted over 110 videos in this new style, finding varying degrees of success along the way.
Around this time I started volunteering at the Book Truck, a similar program to Bailey's Books, except for teens. After a few different volunteer events, I decided to apply this concept to elementary school students, as I had the most knowledge of that age-range of books. On the heels of the Palisades fires, I reached out to the events coordinator at Marquez Elementary asking about a tentative event, and the rest is history.

Book Distribution
Bailey's Books partners with elementary schools throughout Los Angeles, holding events during school hours where students visit with their class and teacher to select one book of their choice. Every book helps build a child's literacy skills they will carry with them for a lifetime.
